About

Let us tell you a little bit about ourselves.
Our parent site, biscuitsbylambchop.com is our site for specialty dog treats. Biscuits by Lambchop came to be after my own dog, Lambchop (that’s him above), developed kidney failure from a drug interaction between steroids (prednisone) and an NSAID (Deramaxx) while recovering from knee surgery.
After his diagnosis, I learned to cook Lambchop’s meals. This was not an easy task since he also had many food allergies, a history of pancreatitis and other nutritional health considerations. But where there is a will, there is a way.
Lambchop loved his home cooked meals made from whole fresh foods, but something was still missing. There were no treats on the market that were appropriate for all his needs.
So back to the kitchen to develop a treat he could eat and that he would love! The most difficult thing was reducing dietary phosphorus while remaining low in fat, AND, keeping free of all the ingredients he was allergic to at the same time. You can read more on the ‘hows’ and ‘whys’ of a kidney (renal) diet in our health section - coming very soon.
Feeling like the nutty professor in the kitchen performing lab experiments in gluten and dairy free baking, I was amazed when I finally started to make some headway. Although the dough was very difficult to work with, it produced a super yummy treat that Lambchop loved AND that was good for him!
We started sharing his treats with all his doggie friends and they all loved them too. His French mastiff buddy Buddha has a lot of food allergies and could not tolerate any treats ever - until Biscuits by Lambchop. When Buddha tolerated our treats very well, we realized that we should not keep them to ourselves and our company was born!
Biscuits by Lambchop is truly a labor of love. Whenever a customer lets me know that their dog with allergies or kidney disease not only loves them, but also does very well with them physically, my heart is very happy. But I want to do more.
I want other dog owners to know that living with a dog with an illness is not always the nightmare you anticipate when given that fateful diagnosis. It can also be a time of joy - in the little things in life - a time when your relationship with your dog can reach new heights - ones that you never could have imagined, and a time when you learn so much more about each other - especially how to make every single week, day and moment count.
We will bring you practical information on canine wellness from the caretaker’s perspective. We hope you find it helpful in caring for you dog, whether healthy or ‘challenged’.
Remember to enjoy the little things and take time out to throw your dog a bone today!
