Silly Rabbit! Tricks are for Kids, and Dog Biscuits are for Dogs

Biscuits by Lambchop Mikey likes it

We recently gave some of our gluten-free, gourmet dog treats to swag magenet Mike Michalowicz, the Toilet Paper Entrepreneur. As many of you know, Biscuits by Lambchop are made with 100% natural, human grade ingredients, so not only do dogs enjoy them, but many humans can’t seem to keep their paws off either — one for fido, two for me…..

Well, Mike the potty prince was kind to feature our dog biscuits in a recent video, twisting in his brand of humor at the end, but perhaps he’d better keep his day job, in lieu of pursuing a career as a dog food critic/funnyman/actor!

Silly rabbit! Tricks are for kids, and dog biscuits are for…..
…..well they’re for dogs. But we can’t help it if people like like them too!

Nevertheless, we’re happy for the help in spreading the word that our gourmet dog treats are not only healthy, but also made with real, human grade ingredients.

I know, interesting sense of humor right? Wait, there’s more…..

Salmon? Salmon?? With bananas? Seriously, leave the baking to us!

So what’s the big deal about ingredients in dog food and treats anyway?

There was been so much talk about ingredients since the massive recalls a few years back, which have helped put a spotlight on ingredients in pet foods as a whole, and, shed some light on all the miscellaneous grub that goes into many foods and treats. It is beyond the scope of this post but if you look up what meat (and other) “by-products” and “meal” are, you would probably be making that face at the end of Mike’s video. I think he was reading up on the garbage that goes into many dog foods at that moment!

A good rule of thumb when choosing products to feed your pet is to look for all natural, whole ingredients you can understand and pronounce. Stay away from chemicals, preservatives and so many additives they’re clearly added in because they’ve baked or pulverized the heck out of the food, depleting it of any natural nutrients it may have started out with.

Even when you do see an actual meat or whole food product in the ingredients list, remember that there are varying levels of quality in proteins or any other ingredient. If your dog’s skin, coat and nails are in poor condition; if they lack general energy; if they have frequent gastrointestinal issues, but they are otherwise healthy, look to the foods you are feeding.

We personally feed raw, whole foods, and give variety for maximal benefit from different nutrients. Even when Starlet “can use a bath”, people ask if I just bathed her because her coat is in such excellent condition!

You and your gluten-free dog treats rule! LOL, and I’m glad to know I don’t have to be worried, as my boyfriend keeps stealing my dog’s BBLs!!

  2. ayesha Says:

Annette - have been hearing rave reviews on your doggie treats - and so glad to discover the philosophy and quality that go into them. Can’t wait to recommend Biscuits by Lambchops!

  3. Melissa Cassera Says:

I’m a huge advocate of feeding my dogs treats and food with all ingredients that I’m familiar with! I have tasted Annette’s treats and, being obsessed with cookies, really enjoyed them with my morning coffee (though I do share with my Jake and Sammy!)

I’ve seen the nutritional effect the proper treats and food can have on a dog. They behave better, have plenty of energy, their skin doesn’t itch and their coats are beautiful and shiny. Thanks Annette for creating a wonderful product for our pooches!

Annette, Great advice on choosing pet food and treats. My two Jack Russells, Scooter and Dee Dee, appreciate the love (and nutrition) you bake into Biscuits by Lambchops. Dee Dee has one thing to say to Mike: Grrrrrrrr.

  5. Dahlia Says:

My dogs loved BBL’s and Starlet’s and my neighbors’ dogs love them too! They always run to my door and bark for BBL treats!!! I recommend them to all!!!

  6. Lisa - Darkmstf Says:

I think Mike is seriously off his rocker! I’ve been feeding BBL since inception to my drooly crew — both Choppers and Starlets — and not only do the dogs love em, but the cats even do too! And I have no qualms whatsoever of eating any myself. Aw heck, I think if I ate those as my main *snacks* I’d be in better shape than going for a Dunkin’ Donuts jelly donut! Keep on bakin’! The drool crew here at Darkside Mastiffs are still waiting on a mastiff sized cookie tho! I think your next concoction should be “mastiff claws” (instead of *bear claws*). :)

I applaud pet treats by Biscuits by Lampchop that are baked with good health in mind. I was so confident the treats would do well at my holiday art show that features my pet art, that I insisted that Annette bake a batch of candy canes to accompany my showcase dog: Fetcher and the Candy Cane.

After dividing the package into several gift bags for dog friends, I was thrilled to know they would love them -and they did!

Thanks Annette for a great gift giving product to my dog friends!

Jingles *loves* Starlets and BbLs and he’s a picky dude! I’ve even given them to Sandy, my food allergy/intolerance dog, and she loves them too and they agree with her, which is a miracle! And, yes, I’ve eaten them myself and I think they’re delicious! Recently going gluten free in December, I’ve been trying all sorts of gluten free treats, and Annette’s biscuits are actually one of the better GF cookies that I’ve tasted! We all love them in this house, hooman included!

  9. Angela Says:

Annette, you know that we LOVE Biscuits by Lambchop. If ever you want a video of both owner and doggie loving the treats, stop by, video tape us and you’ll get lots of love from Ella and me!

  10. Grace Says:

Annette, Miss Sadie LOVED the treats you sent to her!!! They smelled so good even I was thinking of making a cup of tea and having a few myself! What made me feel really good was when I read the list of ingredients…and I never knew there was garbanzo bean flour!!! I eat garbanzos when I want to make sure I’m getting good bean protein! I am definitely ordering my Sadie girl some of your treats. I want her to be healthy and happy for a very long time! Thanks for the treats~

  11. admin Says:

Thanks for all the great comments! Angela, I will take you up on that very soon!

Luanne, that is so great! See everyone can steal each other’s snacks now and no harm. : )

  12. Ana Says:

Annette, every dog we know LOVES the BBLs and the Starlets !! They rock, and so do you !

  13. Janet Tobiassen Crosby DVM Says:

I am not afraid to say that I love Biscuits by Lambchop. MMMM! Enjoy with tea in the morning or a healthy afternoon snack. Sophie loves them. Argos loves them. That said, sometimes I don’t share. Bad me. Poor dogs! Next time…

  14. Randa Safron Says:

I really enjoy what you write on here. We try and visit your site every day so keep up the good work!

  15. Kim Says:

I love biscuits by lambchop because my dog loves them and he is on a very restricted diet. He not only loves his biscuit treat, but the treats love his very sensitive tummy! I was thrilled to find something that I could give him that he loves and is good for him! Keep up the good work and Mike if we dip them in peanut butter or chocolate you’d think you were eating a gourmet cookie!

  16. Lynn Says:

You’ve done a great job of using Mike’s inept “joke” as an educational jumping off point, turning a negative into a positive. Great job! I think I hear Toyota calling :)

  17. Nancy Says:

Annette — You need to chime in with your vet munching stories here — they’re too funny!

  18. Hazel Grace Says:

Got to admit it… I’ve tried the biscuits myself. My boyfriend was horrified because he didn’t know they were made with the same ingredients our own human food is made with. So, I teased him about how I was going to eat one and had to follow through! If you just smell them you can tell they are tasty… kind of like a very simple flavored scone… not bad. Not bad at all!

  19. admin Says:

    Toyota @Lynn, lol! I’m ready!

@Nancy Yes, it is too funny not to share. I gave Lambchop’s vet a lots of sample bags of Lamby’s treats — to give out to his patients of course — until one day, when I came by and found him opening up a bag and dipping a biscuit (by Lambchop) into his morning coffee! I already knew he really liked the treats but this was quite a while after his initial “tasting” so I was wondering what was going on. I offered to get him a croissant while I ran out for a tea and he declined, saying he’d open another biscuit as he does every morning.

Well that was it! I found out he wasn’t giving out any samples to his patients because he really enjoyed the treats with his coffee! That was the end of his free samples! Although I admit, I gave him more samples just recently, but I alerted his entire staff and the other vet who works for him to call me if he tried snagging them all again!

  20. admin Says:

    @Hazel Grace, great story!

  21. Cara Says:

This is such a funny story. But dogs are for dogs and it is nice that many people are really giving good quality foods for their pets.
