Agility 101

A simple but effective graphic from our friends at AffordableAgility.com on how to teach your dog a basic agility jump.

How much fun are they?! We love their Agility-in-a-bag kit, great for NYC and it comes with a few obstacle layouts and instructions!

After my girl Starlet graduated from puppy kindergarten, it was suggested we go on to agility training to continue building our relationship and bond, for mental stimulation a puppy needs (this was good for me too) and to expend energy in a fun way. It was excellent advice! Agility training, in a nurturing environment can be just the thing to transition your “crazy puppy” to their teenage years and into adulthood, while building trust between the two of you.

There is so much more than puppy kindergarten — take your pup through elementary, junior and high schools too! And hey, if you two are super industrious, your pup may go to college too.

Enjoy!*

As in any sports training, start slow and build up endurance and muscle training to your dog’s tolerance.

My cats would just walk around it… Now if it were a counter jumping contest, then they’d be all over it!
