Peanut Butter Recalls Expands to Include Pet Products

Since January 13th, The Peanut Corp. of America peanut butter recalls have continued to expand, now to include pet products. Their peanut butter was not sold to individuals but in bulk to manufacturers of food products in which it is an ingredient.
An update today, states that some of their peanut products were used by manufacturers of pet food. Various pet products had already issued recalls due to potential contamination.
Pets with Salmonella infections may exhibit lethargy, diarrhea (possibly with blood), fever, vomiting, decreased appetite and abdominal pain. Pets can also transmit infection to other pets or people, as can handling an infected food without proper hand washing.
Please use caution feeding anything containing peanut butter (or paste) unless you are sure the source of that ingredient is safe.
You can sign up for recall alerts at the FDA.
