Happy Lunar New Year! The Year of the Ox and Barack Obama!
The Chinese calendar, based on the lunar year, follows a 12 year pattern in which a different animal represents each year.
There are many legends about this. One I like is that Buddha invited all the animals to join him for the New Year’s celebration. Only 12 animals came and so Buddha named a year after each of them.
It is said this year of the Ox will be a conservative year of tradition and values. The year will bring stability and growth where patience and diligence pays off.
Our new president, Barack Obama, was born in 1961, the year of the Ox!
Those born in the year of the Ox are stable, dependable, industrious, determined - with leadership qualities, patient, strong, responsible and will be great organizers. They are honest, reliable and logical. People come to them for advice. They know the way to succeed is by a slow, steady, sustained effort!
