Some things to take along for travel with your pet:
Identification: Tags with your cell phone number will help reunite you and your pooch should they get parted from you and your trip. Microchips are useful if they get lost or if their collar is removed.
Proof of ownership: Bring a copy of your dog license.
Recent photos of your pet(s).
Medical and vaccination records. These can be invaluable in an emergency. Your pup’s tags can also include any special conditions and/or essential medications.
Extra food and medications. If the food your pup eats is not widely available, be sure to bring some extra in case your trip is extended for some reason.
A list of veterinarians and/or veterinary hospitals at your destination (or along your route, if necessary).
If driving, bring a list of hotels/motels that allow dogs. You may be delayed and have an extra night on the road.
